The Alba Carolina Citadel is the largest Vauban-type fortification in Romania. The project brings together in one place the period plans, the historical photographs and the current condition of every bastion, curtain wall and gate.
We work with local and national archives, with specialists in military architecture and with volunteers doing fieldwork. The result is a complete record for each element of the fortification, published freely for researchers, restorers and the administration.
