About the programme

Heritage, moved into the 21st century

Archive documents decay, objects get lost, buildings change. Digitisation creates a faithful, measurable and accessible copy — a form of conservation that never touches the original and does not depend on a single place.

What we digitise

Three lines of work

Documents and photographs

Archive-grade scanning of documents, maps, plans and historical photographs, with description and dating.

Heritage objects

Photogrammetry and 3D models for museum pieces, architectural elements and inscriptions.

Buildings and fortifications

3D scanning and digital surveys of the bastions, walls and buildings of the Alba Carolina Citadel.

How we work

From object to public archive

Identification and agreement

Together with the owner (museum, parish, archive, private person) we establish what is digitised and under what conditions.

Capture

Scanning or photography to archival standards, without any intervention on the original.

Description

Every item receives metadata: dating, provenance, author, state of conservation, usage rights.

Publication

The materials enter an online collection with free access for research and education.

Do you have something to digitise?

We work with institutions and with individuals

If you own documents, photographs or objects connected to the history of Alba Iulia, we can digitise them free of charge. The original stays with you; the digital copy enters the public archive only with your written consent.

How you can support it

Equipment and time

Digitisation needs scanners, cameras, storage and people who describe the materials. You can contribute with a donation dedicated to this programme, or as a volunteer.
